About Us
Kim Yellowknee, a proud Nehiyaw (Cree) food entrepreneur, mother of three, and wife, has deep roots in Wabasca, Alberta. Her life and work reflect a vibrant blend of heritage, family, and community service—a reflection of the values instilled in her at an early age.
In November 2022, Kim launched Kim’s Creations, a catering business that brings her love of cooking to the community and offers something truly unique. The business is the result of years of dedication and hard work, evolving as she continues to refine her craft and expand her offerings. Today, Kim's Creations provides both Indigenous and non-Indigenous catering and participates in retail and market vending. Through her food, Kim honors her culture and shares her culinary gifts, with her passion shining through every dish she prepares.
Kim's culinary journey began in the kitchens of her kokums (grandmothers), where she learned the art of cooking while helping prepare meals for church and family gatherings. These experiences were more than just cooking lessons; they were moments that instilled a deep sense of community, tradition, and purpose. Her catering business reflects these roots, bringing warmth and cultural respect to every meal she serves.
In addition to her culinary endeavors, Kim is an artist and healer, specializing in traditional Indigenous crafts like dream catcher making and fish scale art. Through these art forms, she preserves and celebrates her cultural heritage, sharing these skills with others in her community. Her contributions extend beyond food and art; as a motivational speaker, she uplifts aspiring entrepreneurs and offers words of hope and resilience to women who have survived abuse, sharing tools for personal growth and empowerment.
Kim is also a practitioner of reiki and energy healing, working with clients on their journeys to "healing from within." Her healing work, like her culinary and artistic pursuits, is grounded in empathy and a desire to create peace and balance in others' lives.
Among her offerings is a special bannock-making class, where she invites participants to connect with Nehiyaw culture through hands-on learning and delicious food. This class allows Kim to share the warmth and tradition of bannock, fostering a supportive and engaging environment for learning and connection.
Through all her roles—mother, wife, chef, artist, healer, and speaker—Kim continues to build a legacy of strength, compassion, and cultural pride. Her story is one of transformation and dedication to service, a life committed to creating and sharing, whether through food, art, or words. Kim Yellowknee is a reminder of the power of community, the richness of tradition, and the endless possibilities that come from following one’s passion."
